Description: This foundational course examines the framework of customs and judicial precedents that comprise British common law. Over six weeks, it covers the history of common law; its differences from statutory law; the structure of the courts; the legislative process; the role of judges in interpreting and establishing precedents; and the impact of the European Union on English common law. The course consists of videos, readings, online activities, and research exercises.
