Here, the big winner is the University of Oregon. Despite nearly tumbling out of the top 100 – and dropping 23 places since the 2011 rankings – the Ducks are held in much higher esteem than the University of Tennessee or rising power Kansas. Despite slipping 36 places in two years, Loyola Marymount still maintains a solid reputation among academics. However, as Morse had noted earlier, peer assessment could also be seen as a lagging indicator, as academics often have little day-to-day contact with other schools.
