Students can also participate in the Student Intellectual Property Association, the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, the International Intellectual Property Organization, the Licensing Executives Society, and the Patent Law Forum. The university library boasts the most extensive global collection of intellectual property scholarship in the United States. According to the school, IP program alumni work in over 83 countries, with over a third of UNH law students possessing an engineering or physical sciences background. Recent students have also completed externships with organizations like Calvin Klein, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Located in a budding tech center, the Boston University School of Law offers over 20 IP courses to their J.D. and LL.M. candidates. Students can participate in the Intellectual Property Law Society or write for the Journal of Science and Technology Law. Program graduates currently hold leadership positions at Pandora, Viacom, DC Comics, and the Directors Guild of America. Two professors in the IP program – Wendy Gordon, and Keith Hylton – have also received the William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professorship, the university’s highest teaching award.

The Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law is the highest ranked IP program in the Midwest. It is credited with offering the first LL.M. in international IP law. As part of the concentration, students can join the Intellectual Property Law Society, compete in IP moot courts, and write for the Journal of Intellectual Property. The school also offers one of the only master’s degrees in Intellectual Property Management and Markets, which integrates computer science, engineering, design, and law.
