Hurricane Doesn’t Stop Florida Law Grads From Getting Bar Results
Following some of the worst hurricanes in Florida history, July 2017 bar exam results were released this month showing varying passage results.
Three universities—Florida International University College of Law, Florida State University College of Law, and University of Miami School of Law— broke the 80% mark for passage rate. Three other law schools—Ave Maria School of Law, Barry University School of Law, and Florida A&M University College of Law—posted passage rates in the 50% range, while Florida Coastal School of Law’s passage rate fell below 50%.

Above The Law reports that Florida’s overall passage rate for first-time takers was 71.3%, up 3.1% since the July 2016 administration of the exam.
One university—Cooley Law’s Tampa Bay campus—was not found in the list of results. Above The Law reports that Cooley Law has never been listed by name on Florida’s bar exam results list, even though its inaugural class graduated in 2015. According to Michelle Gavagni, the executive director of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, Cooley Law’s results are released with results from non-Florida law schools since its main campus is based in Michigan.
For those students unsatisfied with their bar exam results, another opportunity will come in February.
