LSAC Names CUNY Law Dean as President and CEO
LSAC: “The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) has named Sudha Setty as its president and chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2025.
Setty is currently serving as dean of the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law. Previously, she served as dean of Western New England University School of Law.
“I am honored to have been selected as LSAC’s president and CEO,” Setty said. “For years I have been deeply impressed with LSAC’s mission and work in championing access, equity, and outcomes in legal education that advance law and justice.”
“Law schools and higher education in general face enormous challenges and opportunities, from the role of the academy in society, to how to preserve the rule of law, to how to advance diversity, access, and excellence in legal education,” Setty said. “These profound issues require all of us to work together towards building a well-equipped, diverse, and engaged legal profession. LSAC plays a vital role in expanding outreach and access to legal education, and its work is more important than ever.”

Pitt’s School of Law Names New Dean
Pittsburgh, PA: “After a comprehensive national search, Professor and Vice Dean Jerry Dickinson has been named dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, effective Jan. 15.
A Pittsburgh native, Dickinson has built a national, international and local reputation as a constitutional law scholar and civil rights lawyer. He has extensive litigation and transactional pro bono experience in civil rights and civil liberties.
Dickinson joined the Pitt Law faculty in 2017 and was appointed as vice dean in March 2023. His teaching and scholarship specialize in constitutional law, civil rights and civil liberties, judicial federalism, property, law and democracy, and race and the law. He has been published in the nation’s top law reviews and cited by U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 3rd and 6th Circuits, amicus briefs filed by members of Congress in federal courts, and in national and international news outlets.”

California Releases Results of July 2024 Bar Exam
Law.com: “Graduates of two out-of-state law schools posted the highest pass rates on California’s July 2024 bar exam, the last to be administered in a format that required applicants to travel to convention centers and hotel ballrooms.
All 16 first-time test-takers from Cornell University and all 12 from the University of Minnesota passed the two-day exam, according to data released recently by the California state bar. The Big Red of Cornell and Golden Gophers of Minnesota join an exclusive group of alumni from schools that have lodged 100% pass rates in recent years, including the University of Texas at Austin, Duke, Notre Dame, Virginia, Vanderbilt and Yale.
The overall success rate for those who finished the July 2024 exam, including those repeating the test, was 53.8%.
The top-performing California-based law school was Stanford University with a 95.9% pass rate for rookie test-takers. UCLA posted the second highest pass rate, 93.6%, and the University of Southern California was third with 93.3%.
Students of California-based American Bar Association-approved law schools had an overall higher pass rate among new applicants, 81.3%, than students from out-of-state ABA-approved schools (74.7%).”
