University of Michigan Breaks Law School Applications Record

Michigan Live: “This has been a record-breaking year for University of Michigan Law School applications, said Sarah Zearfoss, dean of admissions at the UM Law School.

Zearfoss confirmed there were nearly 9,000 applications to UM’s law school this year. This number reflects first-year law students applying for a three-year program.

Prior to this year, the average number of applications was roughly 5,500 to 6,000 per year, Zearfoss said. She said application numbers began spiking in 2021, following the COVID-19 pandemic but this past year was a large change to yearly application rates.

“It’s of course very gratifying,” Zearfoss said. “I am a very strong believer it is the best law school in the world. It’s very gratifying that other people are interested in being here as well.”
