Where have you interned during law school?

  • Vanderbilt University Appellate Litigation Clinic (Nashville TN)
  • White & Case LLP (New York, NY)
  • Securities & Exchange Commission (New York, NY)

What practice area will you be specializing in after graduation? Commercial Litigation
Why did you choose to attend law school? I had been doing work with banking regulations and interacting heavily with lawyers, before ultimately deciding that law school would move my career forward in a meaningful way
What was your favorite law school class? Either my first year Civil Procedure class, or my Mergers & Acquisitions class. Both were interesting classes that have had tremendous practical application in my experiences over the summer.
Which attorney do you most admire? Charles H. Houston. Hiss abilities as social activist and legal strategist fundamentally reshaped American society in a positive way.
What have you enjoyed most about law school? Meeting interesting new people in one of the most exciting cities in America.
What word best describes your professional brand? Committed.
“I knew I wanted to go to law school when…”I finished my first regulatory project at Goldman Sachs.”
“If I didn’t go to law school, I would be…in politics? At a bank? I really don’t know. I think that law school has opened so many doors for me, that it is tough to imagine what I would be doing had I not attended Vanderbilt.”
Which academic or personal achievement are you most proud of? It is either arguing in front of three federal appellate judges in the Vanderbilt Moot Court Competition finals or winning my first pro bono assignment at White & Case. The former because it affirmed that I have grown and improved as a public speaker and advocate; the latter because it affirmed that I can use those skills to better the lives of others.
Fun fact about yourself: I am an award-winning opera singer and vocalist.
Favorite book: The Last Campaign by Thurston Clarke
Favorite movie: Chinatown
What are your hobbies? I love to watch movies, play the piano. I love the arts and so anytime there is an opportunity to see something new. I try to take advantage.
What made Larry such an invaluable addition to the Class of 2016?
“Larry is one of those people who seems to be good at everything he does. Whether it is participating in our Mock Trial and Moot Court Competitions (both of which he won), singing in the law school a cappella group (he sang the key solo and nailed it), co-running the Public Interest Stipend Fund Auction (he collected more firm donations that any student I can remember in recent memory) or serving as President of the Legal Aid Society, he simply has ‘it.’ Larry always seems overcommitted, but manages to simultaneously give every project, organization, and colleague his full attention, and does so with humility and grace.”
