Make The Most Of September For Law School Applications

You can’t delay it much longer. The deadline for your law school application is creeping up. And you’re probably stressed from work or school, let alone LSAT preparations. You need to start now. More important, you need a plan.
This week, Shawn O’Connor, a Harvard Law grad and CEO of admissions and test-taking counseling firm Stratus Prep, shares his recipe for getting into a choice law school. And it starts with laying the groundwork in September. Here’s how O’Connor breaks down what you should be doing now to prepare for end-of-year deadlines:
Early September: Contact your potential references so they have time to write a letter that boosts your candidacy.
Mid-September: Conduct brainstorming sessions to identify how your background will appeal to administrators. Begin drawing up an outline that organizes and connects key points.
Late September: Produce rough drafts of your essays, with a focus on getting your ideas on paper. You can devote October and November to tightening your essays.
According to O’Connell, this process frees you to focus on the October LSAT. By starting your essays now, you can stay on track and focus on making them more persuasive and memorable.
