Detroit Mercy Law Grad Proposes… On Stage!

“If you like it, then you should’ve put a ring on it.”
One law graduate took Beyonce’s lyrics to heart. And he made his public declaration on the grandest stage on them all.
At the graduation ceremony at the University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Law (May 9), Nicholas Siewart made a memory few will forget. When his name was called to receive his JD, Siewart dropped to his knee and proposed to Abril Valdes, a 2013 Detroit Mercy Law grad who’d come on stage to help him with his hooding. After Valdes nodded “Yes,” the couple sealed the deal with a kiss to the crowd’s approval.
Who says law school is where romance goes to die?
